Evaluation for FMP for Man going to the moon.

For my FMP I wanted to do a stop-motion film. I wanted to do a space journey so I looked at images of astronauts, at images of spaceships and rockets. I researched the first space ship to land on the moon and I looked at George Mellies film - Journey to the Moon which was a very old black and white film from Victorian times although he was French. I also looked at the first astronauts to land on the moon.

Other research I did was finding images of space for a background to my film. I used the images of astronauts , space and the moon to help me design all the parts of my film. Other research I did was into soundtracks, I listened to lots of space music and decided on the Star Wars soundtrack.

For my final piece for my FMP I made a man going to the moon and a big spaceship /little spaceship the big spaceship was for the man to launch into space and land on the moon and the small spaceship was for the rocket going to the moon. I made the spaceships by using a cardboard box I also painted it and for the man I made an armature using wires which I covered in Plasticine to make his space suit and for the set I used a cardboard box and I used a laptop to search a space background for my set. I also made a paper mache moon by using a balloon and magazines and covering it with glue I also painted it. I think the spaceships and the man, moon went very well. Other props I made was a ladder for the man to get into and out of the spaceship, some flames for when the rocket takes off and a flag for the man when he lands on the moon.

I made some storyboards of the narrative so I knew what slots to take. I am going to use a camera to take the shots which are stop-motion and used premier pro to edit my film.

For the small spaceship taking off I'm going to use a space shuttle sound effect for the spaceship launching into space and for the big spaceship I'm going to use the  NASA'S space Launch system to land on the moon.

My final piece was making a stop motion of a man traveling to the moon in the style of George Mellies- Journey to the moon. What influenced me to do this as my final product was by looking at the first astronauts to travel to the moon and by watching films about traveling to the moon, first spaceship to launch into space. What I liked was when I researched about the first astronauts that was launched into space/ spaceship to launched to the moon. My strengths was making the big spaceship and small spaceship and my weakness was making the astronaut stand up properly. I made a story board of an astronaut traveling to the moon and a questionnaire about the first man to travel to the moon also about the first spaceship to land on the moon. This helped me by making a man going to the moon.

I didn't fully complete on time the reason for this is because I was so focused on my Art project and I didn't realize it would take so long to finish. I created my product by using cardboard for the spaceships and for the moon I used a balloon and covered it with magazines I did this by making a paper mache also for the astronaut I cover him in Plasticine.The tools I used was pliers, I used wires and a glue gun so he won't fall apart.

I researched about the first astronauts to land on the moon and the first spaceship that was made/the first spaceship to launch into space. My research was very successful this influenced my final product by deciding to make a man traveling to the moon. The astronaut wouldn't stand up properly what I did to overcome this is I used a wire to make him stand up. The spaceships and moon went well with the product. I think I worked well when making the spaceships, moon and astronaut I also made a set. The standard is good It does communicate my ideas well this is because astronauts do not travel through the vacuum of space.

The astronaut went less well this is because he wouldn't stand up. It is messy I wanted him to stand up properly. I didn't get to finish my product because I was so focused on finishing my Art project and didn't know it would take so long to finish. If I were to repeat this process again I would start making a stop motion film and start my Media project this is because this would help me get a finished product.

I choose this product because I had a clear understanding of what I was making and when I looked at  George Mellies work Journey to the moon I really wanted to do a man going to the moon.
